Books have always been a daily part of our kids lives. When they were babies and toddlers our mothers group would attend story time at the local library. Its a great memory that we all have as new mums getting to know each other. As they got older we would frequent the library to borrow books and read them before bed or during the day cuddled on the couch. I know both Jasmine and I have kept some of the books they loved as babies and toddlers and the kids still enjoy looking at them.

Many of you wanted to know more about books for your little ones so we thought we would share some of our favorites. We will share some links to some amazing small boutiques and book stores as well as some online resources for you to find these books.

Today we have no plans - Jane Goodwin and Anna Walker

Today we have no plans book

We thought this book was a great place to start as its not only a beautiful book but it shares some of the things that can happen when we dont make plans. As this books shows life can get pretty busy with activities and work and school but the days children love best is when they have a whole day to explore and enjoy the world around them.

Little People Big Dreams books

Little people big dreams book image

We really wanted to include the Little People Big Dreams books in this blog. The books are aimed at children aged 1 - 3, but I know all our children just love them. They are a range of books about extraordinary people who have achieved things in their life. The books take kids through their story in a easy to understand and entertaining way, teaching them about amazing people throughout history.

These books are illustrated beautifully and really engage little ones throughout the story.

Some of our favorite titles include, Amelia Earhart, Audrey Hepburn, Marie Curie and Coco Chanel. There is even a more recent title featuring Greta Thunberg.

Where to find amazing books

Local library.

There are so many resources within the library that you can access and we are amazed at some of the free online programs you may be able to access.

Story Box Library

We love this amazing small business who have created an educational website that gives you access to stories by local authors and illustrators read aloud online by some beautiful storytellers. Its is subscription based but is really reasonable in price. You may also receive free access through your library.

Online ebooks

Many Libraries allow access to an online ebook borrowing service. Ones we have used before is Borrow Box and Libby. These allow you to borrow books through a tablet or pc and read the book online. Get in touch with your local library to find out more.

Small boutique stores.

We love having the book in hand sometimes and we also love supporting other small businesses. some of our favorite places to buy books are listed below.
